What is PIS/PASEP?

To begin with, let's understand a little about the program that benefits thousands of professionals every year. We can say that PIS/PASEP is a set of two social programs. Both with the same function, but with different focuses.

The PIS (Social Integration Program) is aimed at people who work with a formal contract in the private sector. It is the responsibility of Caixa Econômica Federal to pay the benefit to workers.

The PASEP (Public Servant Heritage Formation Program) is aimed at workers in the public network. The payment of this, in turn, is carried out by Banco do Brasil.

Who is entitled to receive the benefit?

To be able to receive the PIS/PASEP, it is not enough just to work with a formal contract or to be a public servant. The worker must also, within these criteria, meet some minimum requirements, namely:

  • Be enrolled in the PIS/PASEP for at least 5 years;
  • Have received average monthly remuneration of less than 2 minimum wages;
  • Have formally worked for at least 30 days, consecutive or not, during the base year;
  • Have your data correctly informed by your employer in the Annual Social Information List.

It is worth mentioning that the social benefit is not paid to domestic servants or young apprentices. However, some cases that do not fit the above criteria are also contemplated by the PIS. See what they are below:

  • People over 60 years of age;
  • People who meet the category of disability;
  • In the case of military personnel, those who are on paid reserve or retirement;
  • Elderly and PCD (Persons with Disabilities) contemplated by the Benefit of Continued Provision;
  • People who have cancer or who have AIDS;
  • People who have diseases included in the list of the Interministerial Ordinance.

What amount will beneficiaries receive in 2022?

The amount of PIS/PASEP is based on the minimum wage in effect on the date the payment is made. However, the worker receives proportional to the number of months worked in the base year.

For the 2022 payments, the period worked in 2020 will be considered, which is the base year in question. That is, I try to work the full 12 months in 2020, the worker will now receive the total amount equivalent to R$1212.00.

Therefore, to calculate the proportional value is very simple. Each month worked is equivalent to 1/12 of the total amount, in this case R$101.00. Therefore, just multiply the number of months worked by R$101.00 and you will have the value of your benefit.

Payment schedule 2022:

Another difference between the PIS and PASEP programs is the definition of payment schedules. This is because the PIS is paid in order of the beneficiary's date of birth and the PASEP following the last digit of their registration number. PIS 2022 payment schedule (according to month of birth):
